Body Check-In

Intention: Body awareness I length: 13min

A somatic lead-in into your body that guides you you connect with your senses through visual and auditory cues, and eventually leads you to a state of interoception, of internal feeling, in order to understand what your body is communicating with you in this moment.

Checking in with your body is an essential self-care practice for all the times you feel disconnected from yourself, needing clarity about your next steps, or simply wanting to support your Self better by checking in what you really need in this moment.

Do your check in preferrably with headphones, and in a place where you can be undisturbed for 13min.

After your check-in: Journal

The moments we are connected with our bodies and ourselves is the perfect sweet spot where we can hear those subtle communications from our somatic intelligence. Messages can come in form of physical sensations, emotions, insights, words, feelings, or also, silence.

If you can, take a moment after your body check-in to note down anything you noticed and felt. Relax your mind and just write it out. It does not have to immediately make sense! You can revisit your notes from time to time to see if you find patterns or connections between your entries.

Here’s a few journal prompts to get you started:

  • were there any sensations you could notice in your body during your check-in?

  • did you feel any emotions? If so, how would you describe them? Where are they located in your body? What kind of feeling do they evoke? And is there anything else about them?

  • did you come across any message your body has been communicating with you?

  • what feels most important to you right now?
