The light of the dark

Darkness can be scary.

I know from my own experience how intimidating it can be to look at the sides of ourselves that are not so joyful. It can be especially hard when we are in the middle of everything, and we’d rather just close our eyes and wait it out instead of facing whatever is lurking for us in the dark.

Triggers. Pain. Insecurity.

But what if the darkness is the place where we find the answers? What happens when we venture into the unseen parts of ourselves, bringing our awareness in, and let it rest there for long enough to make out shapes and nuances?

Our light of seeing, and being with.

When we bring light into a dark scene, we’ll produce shadows.

It’s our awareness on a challenging emotion, a pain, a feeling of stuckness, of anger, of fear, that reveals what is underneath. It is also that play between light and dark that helps us see a direction in the big picture. The shadow points to the light.

And the pain itself holds the pathway out of it.

Hi, I’m Elena.

On my own journey from an office-based architect to a heart-led Somatic Coach and Yoga teacher, a quest of breaking relationships, leaving homes and switching careers, I got my fair share of experiences with the dark.

My own approach of upgrading to a more authentic life was a bit like jumping down a waterfall.

No room for second guesses or safety nets. I learned by force that the price of living closer to the light is first encountering the shadows.

I am beyond grateful for this push under the water - underneath the image of the girl who has it all together, the one who never gets stressed, who smiles in every situation - and got to meet the real me, the drowned little character who’s screaming on the tops of her lungs, who’s fighting against the stream to be heard, and who carries a heart of gold and love.

My approach to Shadow Work

When you work with me, we explore the deep waters - safely.

We create a non-judgemental safe environment that meets you exactly where you are at and lets your Nervous System prepare for the journey ahead.

It’s a very simple process of creating trust and authenticity together, so that the unspoken, hidden parts of you can emerge when they are ready.

You may be nervous, you may be hopeful, you may feel shitty, you may not have a clue where to start.

That’s okay.

This Somatic work is not about fixing or changing you. It’s about meeting yourself with kindness and developing a new capacity to be with emotions and truths that may be challenging and unsettling.

Our sessions are the place to say what you mean, feel what you feel, swear what needs to get out, be silent when there’s nothing to say.

It’s the place you can be honest and free from dogma or expectations. A place to express yourself fully and boldly, to listen to yourself, and reconnect with what is real.

We go gentle, and we go deep.

How does it work?

Over 2 months of one-on-one sessions (online video calls), we’ll meet weekly to gently uncoverwhat lies beneath the surface. You don’t need to know where to begin—that’s exactly what this work is for.

Somatic Shadow Work blends the wisdom of your body, the adaptability of your nervous system, and the sharpness of your mind. It is mainly making use of the “bottom-up” approach, giving the body’s intelligence center stage while weaving in the mind’s “top-down” ability to connect the dots.

The sessions are a safe space to talk and feel, and let the unthought-of emerge from the shadows while we, me and you, hold a compassionate awareness on your sensations.

It’s a trauma-sensitive, experiential approach that follows the gut of you, the coachee.
